Reflector Aura

Resistant and sampling

The Reflector aura samples its environment and reflects it back. It acts like a Teflon shield where energies don't stick but are reflected. This allows Reflectors to sense the health of communities.

What is a Reflector in Human Design?

A Reflector has no defined Centers and therefore no constant, consistent energies of their own. They are the "mirrors" of humanity, as they perceive the energy of their environment particularly strongly.

They "reflect" their surroundings, so to speak. And this doesn't just mean the energies of other people, but also the energy of nature (seasons, planetary and stellar constellations, ...). That's why it is important for Reflectors to live in harmony with the cycles of nature and to wait at least one month (one lunar cycle) for important decisions. This is the ideal Strategy for Reflectors.

When a Reflector follows their Strategy and Authority (more on that later), they will naturally find people and environments that are good for them. Then they can observe the world completely free from attachment and identification, and are rewarded with a feeling of (joyful) surprise.

If a Reflector lives against their Design, they probably feel a deep, persistent disappointment regarding themselves and/or the state of the world.

Not-Self Theme of the Reflector

The Not-Self Theme of the Reflector is Disappointment. This feeling arises when a Reflector does not live according to their Strategy and Authority.

Reflector Children

Reflector children are extremely sensitive to their environment. They need a harmonious, supportive setting and enough time for important decisions. Let them wait at least one lunar cycle and observe how the Moon influences their mood.

FAQ about the Human Design Reflector

What is a Reflector in Human Design?
The Reflector is the rarest type in Human Design, making up only about 1% of the population. With no defined centers in their bodygraph, they mirror their entire environment. Reflectors are extremely sensitive to the health of their community and perceive its condition like a seismograph.
How does a Reflector make decisions?
The Reflector strategy is to wait a complete lunar cycle of 28 days before making important decisions. As the Moon activates different gates each day, the Reflector experiences the decision from many perspectives throughout the month. This lunar cycle provides the Reflector with the necessary clarity.
What is the Not-Self theme of the Reflector?
The Reflector Not-Self theme is disappointment. It arises when the Reflector identifies with the energy of others and tries to live like another type, or when making decisions under pressure without waiting for their lunar cycle. A Reflector in the wrong place with the wrong people will feel this disappointment particularly strongly.
Why is the right environment so important for a Reflector?
Since the Reflector absorbs and amplifies all energies from their environment, their location has an enormous impact on their wellbeing. In a healthy community, the Reflector flourishes and mirrors the best of their surroundings. In a toxic environment, they absorb negative energies, leading to deep exhaustion and disappointment.
How rare are Reflectors and what makes them special?
With only about 1% of the population, Reflectors are the rarest type in Human Design. Their uniqueness lies in their completely open bodygraph, giving them an unparalleled ability to assess the quality of communities and environments. When a Reflector thrives in a community, it is a reliable indicator that the community is functioning healthily.
