Biography
American business executive, professor of international relations, political scientist, journalist and prolific author. His books range from Running the World: The Inside Story of the National Security Council and the Architects of American Power (2006) to Traitor: A History of American Betrayal from Benedict Arnold to Donald Trump (2020).
He is the founder and CEO of The Rothkopf Group, a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and a visiting professor at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
Rothkopf was born to a Jewish family. His father survived the Holocaust while three dozen of his relatives did not. Rothkopf is a 1977 graduate of Columbia College and attended Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. He has two daughters, Joanna and Laura Rothkopf.
