Biography
Austrian-American singer from a noted family, as the fifth child and third-oldest daughter of Georg von Trapp and his first wife, Agathe Whitehead von Trapp. She was a member of the Trapp Family Singers, whose lives inspired the 1959 Broadway musical and the 1965 Academy Award-winning Best Picture The Sound of Music. In the film she was portrayed by Angela Cartwright as the character "Brigitta". In the West German films The Trapp Family (1956) and The Trapp Family in America (1958) she was portrayed by Angelika Werth.
She lived and worked as a teacher in Umhausen in the Ötztal and died of asthma on 14 September 1972 at age 55. She was unmarried, had no children, and was buried in the Trapp Family Lodge cemetery in Vermont.
