Biography
French viticulturist who for 36 years acted as manager of Château d’Yquem, and at the time of his death still acted in this capacity for Château de Fargues, both Sauternais châteaux held by the Lur Saluces family for generations.
He was Mayor of Sauternes for 18 years, Chairman of the Board of the Gironde department Agricultural Mutual Insurance Fund for 9 years, and Grand Chancellor of the Académie du Vin de Bordeaux for 13 years.
In 1968, he overtook management of the 'Château de Fargues' estate and oversaw the castle's restoration.
Alexandre de Lur Saluces died in Uza on 24 July 2023 at the age of 89.
