Biography
He worked as a Jewish lecturer at the Free Jewish Education Center in Frankfurt am Main. He was friends with the founder Franz Rosenzweig and he was also his doctor.
In 1935 the Institute for the History of Medicine was closed at the instigation of the Nazia. One year later, Richard Koch fled Germany for the Soviet Union. From 1936 to 1949 he lived and worked as a doctor in the Caucasian resort of Yessentuki. Here he dealt intensively with Jewish culture, learned Hebrew, translated psalms and wrote reflections on the Haggadah and other writings and customs.
Koch had to flee to Georgia in 1942 with the family before the Caucasus offensive of the German Wehrmacht. When he returned to Yessentuki, his extensive library had been stolen.
He died on 30 July 1949, aged 66. In addition to his scientific work and religious writings, Koch left behind an unfinished autobiography.
Human Design Analysis: Richard Koch as Generator 6/2
Richard Koch is a Generator in Human Design – an energy type with a defined Sacral Center. Generators make up about 36% of humanity and possess an enormous, sustainable life force energy.
The Generator's strategy is to respond to impulses from life rather than initiating. When the Sacral Center responds with a clear "yes" (a gut feeling, an inner spark), that's the right path.
When Richard Koch lives in alignment with their design, they experience deep satisfaction and fulfillment. The Generator's not-self theme is frustration – a sign that the sacral energy isn't following the right things.
Richard Koch has Emotional Authority – the most common authority. Decisions should never be made in an emotional high or low, but only when emotional clarity settles in. "Sleep on it" is meant literally here. The emotional wave needs time to run its course.
Richard Koch carries the profile 6/2 – Role Model / Hermit. The 6th line represents the Role Model: a life path in three phases – first experimenting (until ~30), then observing from the "roof" (until ~50), and finally authentically embodying the role model. The 2nd line represents the Natural: a natural talent that is often unconscious and only activated when called out by others.
The incarnation cross "Left Angle Cross of Migration 2" describes the overarching life purpose and direction of Richard Koch in Human Design. It consists of the four gate activations of Sun and Earth (personality and design) and only becomes felt when one lives their strategy and authority.
