Biography
Iranian poet and painter noted as one of the five most famous Iranian poets who have practised modern poetry alongside Nima Youshij, Ahmad Shamlou, Mehdi Akhavan-Sales, and Forough Farrokhzad. Sepehri's poems have been translated into several languages, including English, French, Spanish, Italian, Lithuanian and Kurdish.
He became ill with leukaemia and travelled to England for treatment in 1978. He returned to Iran, and died of the cancer in Pars Hospital in Tehran on 21 April 1980 at age 51.
