Biography
Scottish musician, guitarist, bassist, percussionist, singer and songwriter whose diversity enhanced a variety of acts. He is best known for being one of the core members of the "Alan Parsons Project." In 1974, he joined the band "Pilot," reaching the top of the charts in February 1975. After "Pilot" broke up, Bairnson played on five Kate Bush albums, including the guitar solo on her 1978 debut single, "Wuthering Heights".
Bairnson lived in Spain from 2003 to 2013, where he had a recording studio and continued working as a session guitarist. He was diagnosed with a progressive neurological condition that affected his communication skills, so he no longer played in public. Bairnson died on 7 April 2023 at age 69 following a long battle with dementia.
