Jacques Perrin

French actor and filmmaker born to actress Marie Perrin, occasionally credited as Jacques Simonet (father's name), and best known for his roles in the musicals "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort (1967) and"Donkey Skin" (1970), both directed by Jacques Demy and his documentaries about animals and the environment like Microcosmos (1995), Le Peuple migrateur (Winged Migration, 2001), Océans (2009) and Seasons (2015). In 2004, he appeared in the successfull movie "The choristers", directed by his nephew.

In 1966, he won two Best Actor awards at the Venice Film Festival, for the Italian film Almost a Man and the Spanish film The Search. He played in another Italian film "Cinema Paradiso", directed by Guiseppe Tornatore.

He married Valentine Perrin in 1995. He had three sons, Mathieu (born 1975), Maxence (born 1995), and Lancelot, born 2000. The two eldest are actors. He died on 21 April 2022 at the age of 80.
