Biography

American-born, London-based author. In August 2004, she published her first novel, "How I Live Now." A bestseller for young-adults, it’s the tale of a young girl caught in a war. The book won the prestigious 2004 Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize. After college, Rosoff spent 10 years in New York working in publishing and advertising. After she married English painter Paul Hamlyn, they moved to London in 1989. The couple has a 7-year old daughter. Rosoff said the drive to write her book arose out of sadness. In 1996, Rosoff’s youngest sister Debby was diagnosed with breast cancer and died in 2001. Another sister was diagnosed, and as Rosoff faced these challenges, the world look different to her. She said “something in my head went ‘bing’ and it was carpe diem—seize the day. Life is short and if you don’t do what you want to do, you won’t be around forever. In July 2004, just before the book was published, she herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. “My mission is to get well and write the next book.”

Human Design Analysis: Meg Rosoff as Manifestor 4/6

Meg Rosoff is a Manifestor in Human Design – the only type designed to initiate things independently. Manifestors make up only about 9% of humanity and are naturally independent.

The Manifestor's strategy is to inform others clearly and early enough about their intentions before taking action. This reduces resistance and allows the Manifestor's natural impact to unfold freely.

When Meg Rosoff lives in alignment with their design, they experience deep peace. The Manifestor's not-self theme is anger – a sign that the natural urge to initiate is being suppressed or obstructed.

Meg Rosoff has Emotional Authority – the most common authority. Decisions should never be made in an emotional high or low, but only when emotional clarity settles in. "Sleep on it" is meant literally here. The emotional wave needs time to run its course.

Meg Rosoff carries the profile 4/6 – Opportunist / Role Model. The 4th line represents the Networker: influence and impact unfold through personal relationships and a strong social network. The 6th line represents the Role Model: a life path in three phases – first experimenting (until ~30), then observing from the "roof" (until ~50), and finally authentically embodying the role model.

The incarnation cross "Right Angle Cross of Maya 3" describes the overarching life purpose and direction of Meg Rosoff in Human Design. It consists of the four gate activations of Sun and Earth (personality and design) and only becomes felt when one lives their strategy and authority.
