Biography

Scottish musician; member of the hit ‘70s rock group, Average White Band. A jazz sax player, he is also capable on the keyboard with jazz, rhythm and blues. The band's hits include the LPs "Cut the Cake," 1975 and "Soul Searchin'," 1976.

Ball is both a natural musician and a mathematician. In Dundee art college in the mid-'60s he studied architecture. Before joining the Average White Band, Ball’s credits included record sessions with Johnny Nash, Family, Forever More, Stone The Crows and Maggie Bell. Through his understanding of chords and tonal textures, Ball lent class to the band and he could also throw in the unexpected.

The individual members were veterans of numerous Scottish soul and jazz groups; together Average White Band made their debut in 1973 as the opening act for Eric Clapton. Their debut album, "Show Your Hand," followed shortly thereafter but wasn’t successful. After adopting the abbreviated moniker AWB, a year later their next self-titled album topped the American pop charts with the instrumental "Pick Up the Pieces." The record's huge success was tempered by the 23 September 1974 death of band member McIntosh, who died at a Hollywood party after overdosing on heroin.

Human Design Analysis: Roger Ball as Projector 3/5

Roger Ball is a Projector in Human Design – a non-energy type designed to guide and direct others. Projectors make up about 20% of humanity and have a special gift for recognizing and directing the energies and talents of others.

The Projector's strategy is to wait for the right, respectful invitation before contributing their guidance. Without an invitation, the Projector's wisdom is often unrecognized or even rejected.

When Roger Ball lives in alignment with their design, they experience success and recognition. The Projector's not-self theme is bitterness – a sign that their wisdom and guidance isn't being valued.

Roger Ball has Self-Projected Authority – a rare authority found only in Projectors. Decision-making happens through identity: "Do I feel like myself with this decision?" Self-talk or speaking thoughts aloud to trusted people can help find clarity.

Roger Ball carries the profile 3/5 – Martyr / Heretic. The 3rd line represents the Experimenter: learning through trial and error, embracing life as a practical experiment and growing wise through experience. The 5th line represents the Hero and Savior: others project expectations and hopes onto this line, which can deliver practical solutions for universal problems.

The incarnation cross "Right Angle Cross of Consciousness 2" describes the overarching life purpose and direction of Roger Ball in Human Design. It consists of the four gate activations of Sun and Earth (personality and design) and only becomes felt when one lives their strategy and authority.
