Biography

American environmental journalist and author, also noted as a daughter of Caroline Kennedy, a U.S. Ambassador to Japan, and a granddaughter of John F. Kennedy, the 35th U.S. president. A reporter for The New York Times covering climate change, Schlossberg also wrote for The Atlantic and other publications. She authored the book Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environmental Impact You Don't Know You Have (2019).

Schlossberg had two siblings, Rose and Jack. She attended Yale University and graduated in 2012. She went on to receive a Master's in American History from the University of Oxford in 2014.

In 2011, a man pleaded guilty to stalking Schlossberg and her aggravated harassment. He received 60 days in jail and three years' probation, along with a protection order barring him from contacting anyone in the Schlossberg or Kennedy families.

On 9 September 2017, Schlossberg married her college boyfriend George Moran in Martha's Vineyard. The couple had a son Edwin born in 2022 and daughter Josephine in 2024.

In 2024, immediately after the birth of her daughter, Schlossberg was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. On 22 November 2025, Schlossberg revealed in a New Yorker essay that her leukaemia had developed "a rare mutation called Inversion 3," which made it a terminal form of the disease. A bone marrow transplant, chemotherapy, and a clinical trial of CAR-T cell therapy were unable to slow the progression of the leukaemia, and her doctors informed her that she had one year to live.

Tatiana Schlossberg died on 30 December 2025 at the age of 35. Her family announced her death on the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation's Instagram account.

Human Design Analysis: Tatiana Schlossberg as Projector 3/5

HD Mechanics · Chapter 1/9

Projector 3/5 — Design at a Glance

Tatiana Schlossberg appeared as someone with a focused and penetrating presence. Her Human-Design type is Projector, meaning she does not have her own constant life energy source but directs her attention like a bright light beam to weaknesses in her environment. She could immediately recognize where systems or relationships were not functioning – bringing 'light into the dark' was her natural gift.

However, this ability required sensitivity. Directly addressing flaws would often be perceived as aggressive, similar to glaring light directly into someone's face. Instead, she was most effective by radiating harmony and clarity herself. This authentic presence drew others in automatically; people sought her advice because of her attractive and trustworthy aura.

Tatiana Schlossberg's central strategy involved waiting for an honest invitation. Only when explicitly asked to contribute her insights could she exercise her leadership role without resistance. Since Projectors do not have continuous energy, they need regular rest periods to avoid burnout. Living by this principle of patience and waiting for the invitation rewarded her with success. Ignoring this structure and trying to impose her perspective led sooner or later to her non-self theme: bitterness. Her design challenged her to be guided rather than lead – through explicit recognition of her unique viewpoint from others.

Splenic Authority

Tatiana Schlossberg demonstrated decision-making based on immediate inner resonance. Her design carries the authority of the Spleen, meaning she possessed a pronounced survival intelligence. This intuition functioned as a fine alarm system for her health and well-being. She intuitively knew in the present moment whether a situation or person was beneficial.

For the Spleen to exercise this internal authority, both the Emotional Center and the Sacral Center were open in her chart. This configuration is specific to Projectors or Manifestors as it prevents emotional waves or pure energy production from overshadowing the clear impulse of the Spleen.

Her correct decisions always arose from the first spontaneous impulse. This moment was crucial and irreplaceable; the voice of the Spleen came only once. Tatiana Schlossberg therefore had to be highly vigilant not to drown out this subtle hint with external noise or excessive thinking. A short retreat often helped her clearly perceive this inner voice.

As her orientation lay in the present moment, long-term commitments were difficult and often counterproductive for her. Her design promoted flexibility and spontaneity. She needed a lot of space to avoid getting entangled in rigid plans that restricted her natural rhythm. Through this rigorous boundary against harmful influences, she effectively safeguarded her own integrity and health.

The 3/5 Profile — Martyr / Heretic

Tatiana Schlossberg revealed through her Human-Design Profile 3/5 as someone who primarily gained knowledge through personal experimentation. As an experimenter (Line 3), she initially believed little in given truths and learned instead from direct experiences and resulting mistakes. This process of trial-and-error required patience to accept mutations and adapt.

Her design combined this practical foundation with the Hero Line (Line 5). The accumulated life experiences made her attractive to others who wanted to learn from her self-learned knowledge. She thus took on a role in which she solved other people's problems or helped them by sharing her insights. However, this heroic role could be painful when experiments failed in public.

Society projected onto Tatiana Schlossberg the hope that she would listen and help as a savior. Her task was to avoid errors through mutual support and offer spiritual guidance. She often found her role for other people by listening and managing her experiences, focusing on expansion and creating happiness. This configuration shaped her life as someone who created a resource for the community from personal failure and success rather than just passing on theoretical knowledge.

Triple Split Definition — Defined & Open Centers

Tatiana Schlossberg appeared as someone who was under constant internal pressure to ask questions and understand connections. Her defined Head and Ajna centers created a trustworthy but insatiable mental activity; she thought constantly and could neither stop nor control these processes. This channel between Inspiration and Conceptualization meant that her thoughts could not be directly translated into energy – attempting to force this would only lead to frustration. Instead, her mind served as an inspiration source for others by conditioning the mental field around her.

Her defined Throat connected these mental concepts with the ability to communicate and manifest externally. She spoke from what her mind conceptualized, and had a consistent way of expressing her truths. This was supported by a defined G Center, which gave her a firm self-identity and a clear sense of direction. She knew who she was and could show others new perspectives without needing their approval. Her defined Spleen Center also provided spontaneous, intuitive body awareness; she acted from the present moment and trusted her instincts for health and well-being.

At the same time, Tatiana Schlossberg was vulnerable to external influences through open centers. Her open Heart lacked consistent willpower, leading to a cycle of proving herself – the feeling that she had to prove her worth through performance or promises to be valued. She tended to question whether she was enough and risked making commitments she could not keep just to gain recognition.

Her open Sacral meant she did not have a constant energy flow. She absorbed the vital energy from her environment and amplified it, which easily led to overexertion if she did not pause. Often, she did not intuitively know when “enough” was enough, and had to learn to set boundaries through inner authority rather than exhaustion. Finally, her open Solar Plexus absorbed other people’s emotions. She felt these moods intensely but sometimes confused them with her own feelings. This led her to avoid confrontation to prevent emotional waves and question whether her presence hurt or repelled others.

Channels for reflection, critical judgment and inner clarity.

Tatiana Schlossberg was characterized by a deep reflective ability. She gathered experiences and secrets, then withdrew to process them before sharing her insights. This attitude came from the Lost Son Channel 13-33, which combined listening with patient memory.

Her mind sought inner truth through spontaneous insights. The Awareness Channel 61-24 allowed her to transform inspiration into rational answers without having to control the thought process. Knowledge emerged when it was ready, often accompanied by a need for silence.

At the same time, she had a sharp judgment for patterns and corrections. The Judgment Channel 58-18 drove her to improve life and correct inconsistencies. She questioned structures to strive for perfection but learned to offer criticism only when asked to avoid conflict.

Additionally, other Gates shaped her profile: Gate 2 promoted receptivity to new directions while Gate 7 reflected a need for leadership and hierarchy. Gate 1 emphasized her uniqueness in the here and now. On the personality level, Gate 19 sought security in resources and partnerships, while Gate 25 fostered spiritual innocence and centeredness. In the design, Gate 15 with its focus on collective rhythms and humility as well as Gate 54, which linked worldly success with mystical insight, were also influential. Deeper down, Gates 52 through concentrated pause for pattern correction and Gate 38 through protection of individual integrity against resistance supported her inner structure.

Collective Circuitry — Circuit Signature

Tatiana Schlossberg’s design was shown through three separate, parallel operating energy areas. In the Knowledge Circuit, the Awareness Channel connected the Head with the Ajna Center. This promoted innovative flashes of insight and a drive to express personal identity. Since these centers were isolated from other groups, this creative impulse remained an independent force.

A second area existed in the Understanding Circuit. Here, the Judgment Channel linked the Spleen with the Root Center. This connection allowed focused rational action and strategic thinking, separate from emotional wave movements. It was pure logic energy oriented towards improvement and future.

The third area lay in the Meaning Circuit. The Lost Son Channel connected the Throat with the Identity Center. This created a space for emotional reflection on past experiences. Tatiana Schlossberg could share felt insights and learn together from the past, where the energy fell in waves.

As Triple Definition, these three systems – creativity, rational strategy, and emotional meaning-making – did not exist as a continuous flow but as separate forces. Tatiana Schlossberg navigated between these different demands: the pulsating now of ideas, focused future solutions, and cyclical processing of emotions. Each of these energies worked autonomously without direct energetic bridges to the other two areas.

Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx 2

Tatiana Schlossberg's Human Design profile carried the signature of the right cross of the Sphinx. This configuration established a specific life dynamics where inner intuition and outer authority were in constant, often tense dialogue. She navigated between the desire for deep spiritual truth and the necessity to act within material or social contexts.

In Human Design mechanics, this cross marks a phase of intense internal work. It is not a static trait but rather a process of learning through experience. The challenge was to trust her own authority – her inner decision-making center – instead of being guided by external expectations or environmental pressure. Often, this led to alternating periods of withdrawal with phases of active engagement.

The Sphinx symbolism here refers to the connection between spirit and matter. For Tatiana Schlossberg, it meant that her greatest insights often emerged in moments when she was compelled to integrate seemingly contradictory demands: the spiritual with the practical, the private with the public. Her path was marked by a constant reevaluation of what was truly authentic versus roles she had to play. This dynamic required patience and self-reflection to avoid wasting energy on conflicts and instead use it purposefully.

Saturn Return — Life Cycles

Tatiana Schlossberg showed herself in her late teens as someone seeking inner maturity and structural anchoring. Her design indicated a tendency to experience personal development not only individually but also through binding rituals. This became evident in 2017 when she married George Moran on Martha’s Vineyard at the age of 27. For her Human Design, this was a typical moment of the first Saturn Return. This cycle marks the transition from the experimental phase of early adulthood to a conscious assumption of responsibility and identity. While the first Saturn Return is often experienced as a time of consolidation, Tatiana Schlossberg's years-long internal work crystallized into a solid foundation for her life. The marriage functioned not only as a biographical event but also as an expression of her inner readiness to create a stable structure. Her chart indicated that she learned in this phase to align her own authority with the commitment towards others. Thus, the Saturn Return acted as a catalyst for deeper self-determination, where emotional bonds became the basis for future steps. Tatiana Schlossberg used this period to translate her personal vision into reality while simultaneously defining necessary boundaries and commitments.

Projector · Splenic Authority — Synthesis

Tatiana Schlossberg lived a life marked by a deep drive towards understanding and sharing that understanding with others. Her design as a Projector, combined with the defined Mental Center, indicated a natural ability to recognize patterns and bring light into darkness for others – she quickly identified flaws in systems (Channel 13-33). The Profile of the Explorer/Hero amplified this tendency by emphasizing an insatiable thirst for knowledge and the necessity of experiencing things firsthand before sharing that knowledge. Spleen authority challenged her to instinctively recognize which environments and relationships served her health, enabling a separation from harmful influences.

A central tension in her design lay between the need for recognition of her knowledge (Line 5) and the withdrawal necessary to reflect on experiences and find deeper truths (Gate 33). She inspired others but also needed phases of retreat to process her insights. This interplay between the desire for connection and the necessity of distance characterized her path, particularly evident in a documented event when she entered into a relationship (2017), indicating a need to make experiences and share them with others.
