Biography
Bickler left Survivor in late 1983 after he developed polyps on his vocal cords and required surgery and voice rest, a condition that would take a year and a half to recuperate from.
He rejoined Survivor with co-founders Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik in 1993, staying until early 2000. He was a part of the group for their first four albums: Survivor (1979), Premonition (1981), Eye of The Tiger (1982), and Caught in the Game (1983). Although primarily serving as the band's lead vocalist during this time, he is also credited with playing keyboards on Survivor's first two albums (including being the sole keyboardist on their debut album).
Survivor experienced their big breakthrough in 1982, when they were asked by Sylvester Stallone to provide the theme song for his movie Rocky III. The song, "Eye of the Tiger", soon turned into the biggest hit of the band's career. It had an enormous impact on the Billboard charts, soaring to #1 for six weeks. The song won the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, was voted "Best New Song" by the People's Choice Awards and received an Academy Award nomination. The song remains popular today.
Human Design Analysis: Dave Bickler as Projector 1/4
Dave Bickler is a Projector in Human Design – a non-energy type designed to guide and direct others. Projectors make up about 20% of humanity and have a special gift for recognizing and directing the energies and talents of others.
The Projector's strategy is to wait for the right, respectful invitation before contributing their guidance. Without an invitation, the Projector's wisdom is often unrecognized or even rejected.
When Dave Bickler lives in alignment with their design, they experience success and recognition. The Projector's not-self theme is bitterness – a sign that their wisdom and guidance isn't being valued.
Dave Bickler has Emotional Authority – the most common authority. Decisions should never be made in an emotional high or low, but only when emotional clarity settles in. "Sleep on it" is meant literally here. The emotional wave needs time to run its course.
Dave Bickler carries the profile 1/4 – Investigator / Opportunist. The 1st line represents the Investigator: a deep need for a solid foundation and thorough knowledge before feeling secure. The 4th line represents the Networker: influence and impact unfold through personal relationships and a strong social network.
The incarnation cross "Right Angle Cross of Tension 1" describes the overarching life purpose and direction of Dave Bickler in Human Design. It consists of the four gate activations of Sun and Earth (personality and design) and only becomes felt when one lives their strategy and authority.
