Biography
The youngest of 19 kids born to a Roman Catholic wholesale meat merchant, de Bont told his parents at 12 that he wanted to attend a film academy; they told him that it was a one-way ticket to hell. In high school, he was the founder and only member of a 8-mm movie club. He did manage to go to the film academy, graduating in 1966.
de Bont made several very successful Dutch features with Paul Verhoeven. In 1976 he moved to Hollywood to work as a cameraman.
He was an attractive man until 1981 when a lion ripped his head open while he was filming "Roar;" he had 220 stitches. De Bont's films do seem to be accident prone. With his "Jewel of the Nile," four members of the film crew died in an air crash. In "Clan of the Cave Bear," a helicopter crashed, injuring two. Released in 1990, "Hunt for Red October" was another of his noted films.
De Bont was married in the U.S. to an American woman in 1992; two kids.
Jan de Bont — Generator with Profile 2/5
Jan de Bont is a Generator in Human Design – an energy type with a defined Sacral Center. Generators make up about 36% of humanity and possess an enormous, sustainable life force energy.
The Generator's strategy is to respond to impulses from life rather than initiating. When the Sacral Center responds with a clear "yes" (a gut feeling, an inner spark), that's the right path.
When Jan de Bont lives in alignment with their design, they experience deep satisfaction and fulfillment. The Generator's not-self theme is frustration – a sign that the sacral energy isn't following the right things.
Jan de Bont has Sacral Authority. The Sacral Center responds with a clear physical reaction – an "uh-huh" (yes) or "un-un" (no). This gut response is spontaneous, direct, and reliable. The key is responding to the right question or impulse.
Jan de Bont carries the profile 2/5 – Hermit / Heretic. The 2nd line represents the Natural: a natural talent that is often unconscious and only activated when called out by others. The 5th line represents the Hero and Savior: others project expectations and hopes onto this line, which can deliver practical solutions for universal problems.
The incarnation cross "Right Angle Cross of Laws 3" describes the overarching life purpose and direction of Jan de Bont in Human Design. It consists of the four gate activations of Sun and Earth (personality and design) and only becomes felt when one lives their strategy and authority.
