Biography
The eldest child of Arthur Piaget, professor of medieval literature and Rebecca Jackson, a strict Calvinist, Jean, a child prodigy, wrote his first paper at age ten. After high school graduation he studied natural sciences at the University of Neufchatel obtaining his Ph.D. in 1918. After a semester at the University of Zurich, where he developed an interest in psychoanalysis, he attended lectures by Carl Jung.
Piaget went to France for a year to work at a school established by Alfred Binet. In 1921 he became director of studies at the Rousseau Institute in Geneva. In 1923 the first of his over 60 scholarly books was published and in 1929 he was appointed director of the International Bureau of Education. One of his greatest and most pioneering books, "The Origins of Intelligence in Children," was published in 1948. Piaget established the Center for Genetic Epistemology in 1955.
Jean married Valentine Chatenay in 1923 and they had three children whom he observed from birth for his studies.
He was still working at his death in Geneva on 16 September 1980.
Human Design Analysis: Jean Piaget as Projector 4/6
Jean Piaget is a Projector in Human Design – a non-energy type designed to guide and direct others. Projectors make up about 20% of humanity and have a special gift for recognizing and directing the energies and talents of others.
The Projector's strategy is to wait for the right, respectful invitation before contributing their guidance. Without an invitation, the Projector's wisdom is often unrecognized or even rejected.
When Jean Piaget lives in alignment with their design, they experience success and recognition. The Projector's not-self theme is bitterness – a sign that their wisdom and guidance isn't being valued.
Jean Piaget has Self-Projected Authority – a rare authority found only in Projectors. Decision-making happens through identity: "Do I feel like myself with this decision?" Self-talk or speaking thoughts aloud to trusted people can help find clarity.
Jean Piaget carries the profile 4/6 – Opportunist / Role Model. The 4th line represents the Networker: influence and impact unfold through personal relationships and a strong social network. The 6th line represents the Role Model: a life path in three phases – first experimenting (until ~30), then observing from the "roof" (until ~50), and finally authentically embodying the role model.
The incarnation cross "Right Angle Cross of the Sphinx 3" describes the overarching life purpose and direction of Jean Piaget in Human Design. It consists of the four gate activations of Sun and Earth (personality and design) and only becomes felt when one lives their strategy and authority.
