Biography
Their partnership made Kurtz a wealthy man but he walked away in what was described as an amicable split. He left, without regrets, to do projects he felt excited about. Moving to London, he spent 22 years lecturing at film schools and developing European film projects, not always successfully. His attempts to get projects such as Isaac Asimov’s "I, Robot" onto the big screen failed. Kurtz said that he was motivated more by projects that challenged him than by monetary rewards and stated that he gave up "trying to fit into the Hollywood mold."
Kurtz had two grown daughters from his first marriage; both worked in the animation and film business in Los Angeles. He spent his free time studying Zen and Tibetan Buddhism.
He died from cancer in north London, England on 23 September 2018, aged 78.
Human Design Analysis: Gary Kurtz as Manifestor 3/5
Gary Kurtz is a Manifestor in Human Design – the only type designed to initiate things independently. Manifestors make up only about 9% of humanity and are naturally independent.
The Manifestor's strategy is to inform others clearly and early enough about their intentions before taking action. This reduces resistance and allows the Manifestor's natural impact to unfold freely.
When Gary Kurtz lives in alignment with their design, they experience deep peace. The Manifestor's not-self theme is anger – a sign that the natural urge to initiate is being suppressed or obstructed.
Gary Kurtz has Ego Authority – a very rare authority. The heartbeat and willpower of the Ego Center set the tone. The truth shows in what Gary Kurtz says and promises. It's about listening to one's own voice and noticing what the heart truly beats for.
Gary Kurtz carries the profile 3/5 – Martyr / Heretic. The 3rd line represents the Experimenter: learning through trial and error, embracing life as a practical experiment and growing wise through experience. The 5th line represents the Hero and Savior: others project expectations and hopes onto this line, which can deliver practical solutions for universal problems.
