Nicolas Bedos

French comedian, writer, director and actor, nominated for Molière and César awards, who in 2024 became the first actor in France convicted and jailed for sexual assault.

The son of writer-comedian-actor Guy Bedos, his godmother was the lawyer and feminist activist Gisèle Halimi (1927–2020) and his godfather was the writer Jean-Loup Dabadie (1938–2020).

He became known in 2004 as a playwright. In 2013, he joined Laurent Ruquier's late-night On n'est pas couché television talk show as a satirist, which he left two years later. His first film, Mr. & Mrs. Adelman, premiered in 2017.

For the 2004 play Sortie de scène he was nominated for the Molière de la meilleure pièce de création. For Mr & Mme Adelman he was nominated for the César Award for Best First Feature Film, and for La Belle Époque (2019) he was nominated for the César Award for Best Director.

On 22 October 2024, a Paris court sentenced Bedos to one in year in jail, with six months suspended, and ordered that he undertake addiction and psychological therapy after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two women in 2023.

From September 2005 to early 2008, he was in a relationship with the actress Elsa Zylberstein. In June 2008, he began a relationship with Helena Noguerra. He was also in a relationship in 2011 with actress Pom Klementieff. From 2013 to about 2019, he was in a relationship with actress Doria Tillier.

He began a relationship with Pauline Desmonts in 2021 and they have a daughter born in December 2023 named Joséphine.
