American actor in four TV series, including "Silver Spoons" and "It's Your Move," 1984. He made his first movie in 1987 at the age of 18, "Teenwolf Too." His sister, Justine (born on 19 February 1966), was also a child actress; both kids continued in the business as young adults. In 1990, he was reputed to be an arrogant, self-centered prima donna; five years later he commented that he's getting too old to be a jerk any more.

The TV sitcom "Chicago Sons" made its debut on 8 January 1997, in which he played a young man who shared an apartment with his two brothers.

On 3 July 2001, he married Amanda Anka, the daughter of singer Paul Anka, in Malibu, CA. Their first child, a daughter, was born on 28 October 2006 in Los Angeles. They named her Francesca Nora Bateman.

On 1 November 2005 he had surgery to remove a benign polyp from his throat.

Projector 5/1 — Design at a Glance

Jason Bateman's design featured a tendency towards focused perception. His aura acted like a bright flashlight, directing light to areas in the environment that were still dark or had systemic issues. This configuration allowed him to immediately recognize what wasn't working for others – a sharp eye for where things were bumpy within the system.

However, this mechanism's challenge lay in interaction: Directly addressing these weak spots was often perceived as unpleasant by his surroundings, similar to shining bright light directly into someone’s face. Instead of confrontation, his design required restraint. Success came when he waited for a genuine and respectful invitation rather than initiating himself. By radiating harmony – such as through the demonstration of functioning structures – he attracted others who then actively sought his insights.

This mechanism of waiting for an invitation protected him from the non-self theme of bitterness that arises when projectors force their leadership skills instead of being asked. Additionally, phases of high energy activity alternated with necessary rest periods shaped his rhythm; without this regeneration, there was a risk of burnout since his design lacked a constant intrinsic life-energy source. Living by this invitation and withdrawal strategy rewarded him with success.

Ego Authority

Jason Bateman revealed himself as someone whose inner truth is anchored in will – a rare configuration carried only by projectors or manifestors with open emotional, sacral, and spleen centers along with a defined ego center. This great openness made him vulnerable to distractions from external influences while his defined will served as the compass needle. His authenticity was not revealed through thinking but rather spontaneous, uncensored speaking; he had to learn to listen to himself when talking in order to distinguish his own will from that which always served the interests of others or open centers. What came out impulsively was his truth.

This will drove him to achieve goals and fulfill promises, often appearing as selfish since he consistently followed what benefited him personally. This included both a drive for material success and an urge to break boundaries or be first in new directions. A central mechanism of his design was the necessity of pause: After achieving a goal, he had to stop. Continuous work without this regeneration did not yield results but led to unhealthy exhaustion and illness. His focus lay on staying true to himself and using his energy purposefully rather than getting lost in endless action.

The 5/1 Profile — Heretic / Investigator

Jason Bateman's design is marked by a paradoxical tension: Externally, he radiated the authority of an expert, while his inner process was based on intense, isolated research. Others projected wisdom and power onto him due to his magnetic presence, often far more than he actually possessed or was willing to give. This Line 5 energy particularly affected strangers who saw him as a figure of inspiration offering solutions to their problems.

At the same time, Jason Bateman needed the withdrawal of Line 1 to deepen his knowledge and lay a solid foundation. This research process required time, patience, and solitude, similar to someone slowly finding their way in a new environment and refining their identity. The risk was that external demand for advice could overwhelm his inner need for peace. Without clear boundaries, exhaustion loomed as he constantly faced requests while needing energy for his own learning. His success depended on maintaining this balance: Saying no when necessary to maintain his knowledge base, and offering solutions only if it clearly benefited him. This way, he avoided the trap of burning out as an all-knowing hero and instead used his gifts purposefully and sustainably.

Single Definition — Defined & Open Centers

Jason Bateman revealed through his Human Design as someone with a robust, unwavering inner axis. His defined G Center gave him a clear sense of self-identity and direction, independent of external circumstances. He had the ability to support others in their development without becoming entangled or sacrificing himself. Simultaneously, his defined Heart Center provided consistent willpower and personal responsibility. Jason Bateman could keep promises and manage resources autonomously; he preferred to act independently rather than follow instructions, seeking recognition for his contributions. These two pillars offered him stability and leadership potential in a world full of uncertainties.

This clear core contrasted sharply with the nature of his five open centers: Head, Ajna, Throat, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Spleen, and Root were all open. These centers acted as antennae for the environment. His open Head Center made him vulnerable to mental pressure and confusion; he tended to engage with questions that weren't his own rather than trusting inner clarity. The open Ajna Center meant that mental concepts and answers were situational – he absorbed ideas from the environment but couldn’t use them as a consistent personal truth. In communication, his open Throat Center showed: He relied on being invited to speak effectively rather than actively demanding attention.

Energetically and emotionally, he was strongly dependent on his surroundings. His open Sacral Center led to fluctuating energy levels; he absorbed the life force of others, which could lead to exhaustion if boundaries were ignored. His open Solar Plexus absorbed foreign emotions, causing him to be pulled between moods without recognizing them as his own. Additionally, his open Spleen Center was vulnerable to survival fears and the temptation to cling to unhealthy situations for a false sense of security. Finally, his open Root Center took on external stress, leading to a feeling of urgency that didn’t originate from him. The challenge lay in using the consistent leadership of G and Heart to not misinterpret fleeting impulses from open centers as personal directives.

Channels for pioneering spirit and universal love.

Jason Bateman showed natural competitiveness that propelled both himself and others forward by awakening potential. His design connected ego pressure with universal love: Channel Initiation 51-25 links Gate 51 (Shock) and Gate 25 (Self Spirit). This configuration allows challenges to foster initiation. With proper invitation, this competitive drive led to expanding creative boundaries and physical endurance. Each triumph confirmed his uniqueness and served as a bold example for others. Individualization was not a controllable act but a mystical process at the heart of mutation that he had to survive.

Additional energies were also at play: Gate 61 sought inner truth amidst noise; Gate 62 built logical frameworks through patience and pattern recognition. Gate 50 provided protective reflexes for traditional values and awareness, while Gate 3 steered mutations in survival struggles. Gate 13 reflected experiences towards continuity, Gate 21 guided material things with respect to the community. Finally, Gate 46 promoted dedication to the process and body love as a temple of selfhood. These elements shaped his way of moving through challenges, growing both personally and collectively, always dependent on authentic living rather than forced initiation.

Individual Circuitry — Circuit Signature

Jason Bateman's design leaned towards a fortified, courageous individuality. He was someone who strongly linked their self-worth with inner identity. This energy was individualistic and reinforced both personal self-image and the uniqueness of others – in the sense of “I am as I am”.

This attitude resulted from the Centering Circuit. For Jason Bateman, this consisted solely of the connection between Identity and Heart Centers through Channel 25-51 (Initiation). This channel linked self-worth energy directly with personal identity. Although the circuit is small, its pulsating format energy colored his entire chart.

As there was no connection to Throat Center, these firm convictions were often poorly expressed. The energy remained inwardly focused and served less for external communication than internal affirmation. Jason Bateman had a simple definition; the connected group included only G and Heart Centers. The Centering Circuit thus formed a separate, isolated force within his design, unconnected with other energetic streams. This created a clear but closed foundation for his self-understanding, independent of external validation or verbal articulation.

Left Angle Cross of Obscuration 2

Jason Bateman's Human Design profile indicates a tendency towards strategic opacity. His Identity and Self-Expression were marked by the "Left Cross of Concealment," pointing to a profound dynamic: his true nature or intent often remained hidden, misunderstood, or deliberately obscured. This was not merely a trait but a structural aspect of his character.

The central challenge lay in the tension between the desire for visibility and the necessity of concealment. It concerned how he positioned himself in the world—often through ambiguity, secrecy, or wearing masks. This configuration did not describe lying in the everyday sense, but rather a self-protective mechanism. The mechanics of this cross suggested that direct revelation was not always the most effective strategy; instead, maintaining some distance or presenting with multiple meanings served as a filter for his environment.

Jason Bateman thus appeared as someone whose inner reality was not immediately accessible. Concealment functioned here as a tool of self-determination to maintain control over his public image. This pattern shaped his interactions: Not everything that was visible reflected the core; and not everything hidden needed to be revealed. This structure created a natural barrier between his internal experience and others' perception of him.

Saturn Return · Uranus Opposition · Chiron Return · 2nd Saturn Return — Life Cycles

Jason Bateman's design shows a dynamic where sudden turns and deeper meaning lead to concrete moments of success. In 2006, at the age of 37, he received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Award. This falls during a Uranus opposition phase. This astronomical cycle often marks times of unexpected change or liberation from old structures. For Jason Bateman, this energy manifested as an impulsive further development that opened up new possibilities and broke through his previous path.

Later, in 2018 at the age of 49, he was nominated for an Emmy as best lead actor in a drama series for Ozark. This corresponds to the Chiron return. In Human Design mechanics, this is not a process of healing old wounds but rather a fulfillment cycle. When a person follows their strategy and authority, their incarnation cross unfolds increasingly in life during this period. Meaning and purpose become experiential. For Jason Bateman, this time frame marked the flowering of his life's mission. The nomination was no coincidence but the visible expression that his inner structure now fully manifested in the outer world. Both events underscore how cyclical influences did not just work as background noise for him but condensed into measurable career milestones.

HD Mechanics · Chapter 9/9

Projector · Ego Authority — Synthesis

Jason Bateman's Human Design reveals a central continuity between inner perception and the ability to recognize subtle errors or disharmonies (Gate 61 in cross). This sharp observational skill, fueled by an open Ajna Center, allows him to identify patterns and inconsistencies. The Heart Center indicates a strong will, which is modulated by the openness of other centers—particularly Sacral, Root, and Spleen. He is therefore not primarily an energy generator but rather a highly sensitive receiver and amplifier of energies from his environment. His authority in ego requires self-observation while speaking to distinguish his own truth from conditioning.

A central paradox lies in the tension between the need for individualization (Channel 25-51) and vulnerability to external influences. Bateman's design shows someone destined to inspire and transform others, but also especially sensitive to the stress and emotions of others. This openness can make him vulnerable to losing himself in the needs of others or being influenced by conditioning while simultaneously possessing the potential to bring about profound changes in his environment.
