Biography
French urban and graffiti artist known for her stencils of dark-haired women seen in the streets of Paris and associated with poetry.
Born to a Tunisian immigrant father and a French mother from Normandy, she spent her childhood in the Parisian district of Montmartre until 1964 when the family moved to Orly, in the southern suburbs of the capital. She lost her mother, her little brother, and her grandmother in a car accident in 1966 at the age of ten; her father died six years later in 1972. She was then raised by her stepmother, a barmaid.
In the early 1980s, she spent a few years in California before returning to Paris. In 1986, she held her first solo exhibition. Thereafter she spread her ideas through poems and wordplay on walls and in books and exhibitions.
In March 2011, a series of stamps was issued for International Women's Day inspired by some of her stencils.
Miss.Tic died of cancer in Paris on 22 May 2022 at the age of 66.
