Biography
German anatomist after whom is named the 'Curve of Spee' (called also 'von Spee's curve' or 'Spee's curvature'), defined as the curvature of the mandibular occlusal plane beginning at the tip of the lower incisors and following the buccal cusps of the posterior teeth, continuing to the terminal molar. Spee was first to describe the anatomic relations of human teeth in the sagittal plane.
He the son of Rudolf Graf von Spee and Fernanda, nee Tutein. He studied medicine and humanities in Bonn and Kiel from 1879 to 1882. He died on 14 March 1937 in Kiel, aged 81.
